This my critical reflection for our final task. I decided to take a simple approach to the  interview  style. I decide to have a mixture of a voiceover along with some music in the back ground. I hope you all enjoy

Final Task: The Premiere

Image
The Premiere:     This is our final task. For the last couple of months my group and I have been working on a thriller film and I believe that we have done exceptional work for this task. With the information that we have been taught I think that we were able to apply that material to create a film that is better than how we thought it would turn out. I would like to go ahead and thank my group members for the work that we put in to make this happen. Thank you.

Editing Blog: The Final Countdown

Image
The Final Countdown     This is the final blog before the premiere of our project and we couldn't be anymore excited. Overall i think as a group that we did a group job with our project from beginning to end. Even with all the obstacles that we had to overcome I still think that our project was successful and that it will do very well. I can say that working in the group was a tad stressful at times. Considering that we all have different schedules and different things to do towards the end of this school year, it was hard to figure out and plan out the steps and process that we were going to take. In the end I believe that we produced some high quality work especially with us still being in a pandemic and us learning from home. Along the way we had a couple of discussions that had some tensions rise but in the end we were able to put our differences aside and b\e able to create a film that was able to show off each one of ours skills and show how we applied what we have been lear

Editing Blog: Almost Done with Editing

Editing Blog  Courtnie worked on editing the scene where Kassandra gets to the grandparents house. At first, she worked on clipping the scenes together to create an action match. For majority of it I saw that she stuck to our original concept of the storyboard. For some parts she did switch out one angle for another. This mostly happened if  she felt like the angle does not look right in the scene. For example, the scene where Jenna gets out of the car and slightly scopes out the house, she decided to  switch the action match from mid-shot to close-up. But originally we planned for wide-shot to mid-shot. This was done primarily to get a better view at the actors facial expression. In this case, we wanted the audience to know that Jenna is hesitant to go up to this house. This happens to be a reoccurring thing. Therefore we had to put alot of closeups in our film. We think this was a good idea on our part because it is easier for the audience to glimpses at he the actors emotions. That

Editing Blog: Using Non-Diegetic Sound

Image
Editing Blog Today was round two of editing. Courtnie finished the first section she worked on, which was the conversation scene between Mom and Jenna. But something extra she tried was editing the quality of the audio. We wanted to try implementing a cellphone toned sound. I'm not sure how to explain it, but we wanted some of the voice to sound just like you'd hear it from a phone as they overlap. The sound would only lasted for split seconds at a time but Courtnie really wanted to try it out. She had to download a voice changer, take each video and transform the video audio quality. Then replace them in the video editor to match the already implemented/ trimmed videos. It was very hard trying to get the audios perfect enough to transition smoothly. At this point you can understand how important smooth transitions are to us. This took so much time so she decided to come back to it. She moved on to editing Jenna walking up to the house. This took barely any time at all. She

Editing blog: Overlapping Dialouge

Image
Editing Blog Courtnie worked on editing scenes 1-7 today. This is the first day, She had gotten a chance to edit our film. She skipped to merging the conversation scene which goes back and forth between Jenna and Mom. She had to go through all the footage and pick out what was usable. She then trimmed the videos so she wouldn't lose the section. Then clipped the videos together and trimmed them so they'd flow as smooth as possible. For the most part she followed the storyboard which I made, but some angles were replaced. For the record, she recorded an extra angle which was a close-up on Mom's left side. She replaced our normal close-up with that extra shot, not a huge difference but an example of replacing certain angles. Listening to the clips, she noticed the major difference in sound quality. This was expected considering one is outside and the other is surrounded by home applies. As quiet as we tried to get the set, you could still here a little background sounds. Y

Production Blog: The Beginning of Editing

Image
Now that we've filmed, we're starting to began our editing process. The first part we tackled was our title sequence. We already had a plan for how we wanted it to look so all we had to do was follow suit. Courtnie did the draft for the title sequence and met with Kassandra to see if she liked it or not.  At first Courtnie said she  did not know how she was going to pull it off but she  had a random memories of an app called Videostar. This is a mobile editing app that I haven't had a ton of practice with. I used because it was the only familiar app that I knew could create the sequence. The first thing she worked on was getting the movie title to transition colors. We planned for the title to appear yellow and fade into a black shadow. We kept the same concept but decided on fading the title into red instead. She did this by creating two masks, one was yellow, one was red. She overlayed the two text then set a duration for the fading. The yellow fades first to create that
